Welcome to Grass-Diabetes

By our clinical experience of 29 years exclusively in Diabetes Management, we found many new diabetics asking questions like

  • • Is it possible to know whether I m going to be diabetic or not?
  • • If we know it earlier, will we be able to prevent it ?
  • • Is Diabetes Inherited? Will it be transferred to my further generations?
  • • My parents are diabetic, am I at risk?
  • • Diabetes runs in the family, so should I marry or not?

Such FAQs with the increasing number of new diabetics, including sweet - loving children suffering with the pain of insulin injections and other medical check-ups, shook my mind and with this continuous thought pattern, I started many awareness activities pertaining to diabetes. the idea was to prevent diabetes by creating awareness through - literature, Radio talks, public and social organisations, free education and management camps. But these activities were not satisfactory for the mass level. As the increase in the new cases of diabetes was inevitable, I kept thinking of a newer approach, a new mode of control and prevention. Meanwhile, in the year 1996, we met Padamshree awarded Professor Dr. M.M.S. Ahuja (now late) who was a renowned Endocrinologist in India. He also appreciated our efforts on prevention. We were working on prevention of diabetes complications at that time. It used an electronic database of our registered patients and through a self generated computer program the complication risk was assessed. We showed it to Dr. Ahuja for which he appreciated us and inspired us to do something out of the league, a method that incorporates the use of herbal recipes and prevents this lifelong disorder and is available at a cost that the individual and community can afford. With their inspiration and advice, we started thinking in this direction. We focussed on the younger generation, which is now going to be the main victim of diabetes and it is must for them that they know the risk of developing this inherited disease. Targeting the younger generation, it was now time to approach them. The easiest and the most convenient source was the Internet and so we began working in these lines. What you are looking at today is the continuous effort of our 12 years put all together i.e. GRASS.
